These articles explain what the archive’s checks reveal about the artwork, where it appears, and which questions remain open.

Why are some Shenmue VMU icons in color?

Three Ryo frames connect an artwork question to archived save data and its stored palette.

What does Jet Grind Radio display on the VMU?

Follow a turning radio from stored frames to sequence order, then explore the separate app’s reconstructed screens.

What we’re preserving next

The published source checks give us a foundation. These are the next useful verification steps, dependent on suitable emulator or hardware evidence—not promised releases or deadlines.

Shenmue: compare a fresh save

The three Ryo frames match archived save-icon pixels and palette data. A fresh in-game save and Dreamcast file-manager capture would help confirm how the icon is selected and displayed in use.

Jet Grind Radio: check timing and screen transitions

Source routines establish the radio’s frame order and how several app screens are composed. Emulator or VMU captures would let us compare playback speed and transitions. The gallery’s GIF timing is illustrative.

ChuChu Rocket!: connect frames to game states

The 21 preserved images have source-pixel and display-code checks. A VMU capture of the title, mouse and cat cycle and load/save transitions would help verify timing, state triggers and hardware orientation.

If you can document one of these displays, please include the game edition, device or emulator, and the steps that produced it. See the archive’s citation and contact guidance.
